Halloween 2011

So we have been slacking on the posting of pictures and keeping you all updated. Largely because im too lazy to take the time. THis year was a great success. The kids had a blast and the scored big. Since we bought our house we have forgotten how nice it is to live in a neighborhood. Kids actually come to our door and the streets were flooded with trick or treaters. I have attached some picts of the kids and their costumes. Avery insisted on being an angel. From her posing in the pictures, you can tell she thinks she is pretty hot stuff....and of course she is. Scott wanted to be scary. So he is the scariest skeleton we could find and he totes around a blood sledge hammer "to kill zombies" with. Lorryn was an old costume of Averys. ...a simple cheerleader. She call the outfit her "pretty pretty". Afterwards we decorated cookies and enjoyed some candy. Hope all is well, we miss you all.

Hello all!

A lot has happened over the summer. We have been negligent with our updates. So things that have happened. We had a pretty lay back summer. Largely filled with getting the house the way we like it and working. Time has flown by. We did get the opportunity to go back to Utah during august and see some family. We spent the week at pine view reservoir boating, tubing, wake boarding and of course camping. Scott's big 6Th birthday came and went in early August as well. School started with Scott in all day kindergarten and Avery in 3rd grade. It has been a little challenging for both of them meeting new friends and acclimating to their environment. Scott also lost his first tooth this week. Its about time. Any rate we hope everyone is doing well. Here are a few picts.

Big Fight

Today we received a phone call from the principal. Scott apparently got in a fist fight. Some kid was telling him to "freeze" in freeze tag during PE. He didn't take kindly to being told what to do so he walked over a belted the kid. Needless to say he has been grounded. But I couldn't help but laugh at him when we in the middle of delivering his sentence. While talking about his fate for his horrible actions, we asked him, "what do you think is a fair punishment for hitting another kid". Scotts response......., "well, I don't know...let me think..... I got it! You know my alarm clock in my room. I love that alarm clock. You should ground me from my alarm clock. That would be a fair punishment." I will give him props for trying to slip one by us. Our response...." im sure you love your alarm clock....but we are thinking no electronics for 1 week. And you get to do a days worth of yard work on Saturday". Of course then the tears began to stream freely. Just thought I would share.

Our house

Sorry for the delay. Our new house has dominated most of our time and we have not been able to post anything. So here a few picts of some of the stuff we have done. Lots of remodeling to do to make "this house a home" as heidi puts it. We have layed tile in a few rooms and remodeled the kids rooms. Heidi's family came out and helped us get settled. We didn't hesitate to put them to work. However we could of used them for another 3 weeks. We are grateful for the time we had and all their help. Lorryn also had her 2nd birthday. She is so much fun now and keeps us on our toes. We will try to post more picts of the house for those of you who couldn't come out.

Forgot how miserable yard work is....but every time I mow the lawn...Lorryn get her mower out and follows until im finished.

We found these creepy bugs while gardening. Freaked heidi right out and she still wont dig in that side of the yard. Turns out they are Cicada larvae. About and 1.5 inches long.

Funny

So as you all know I have been living in Omaha for the last2 weeks. Apparently my kids have been missing me since they are in Sioux falls.
This morning scott asked Heidi why she deleted daddy? That just made me laugh so I thought I would share.

Lorryn all grown up

So,
Started my new job this week. Out of town for 3 days. I come back and Heidi has pierced Lorryns ears. While I hate that my little girl is looking all grown up, I must admit it does look kinda cute. Thought you would want to see.

Egg Drop!

Scott had the classic school project to create a vessel that can soundly be used to drop a raw egg from a roof and prevent it from cracking. I remember doing this project with my father when I was young....unfortunately my egg didn't make it. My father and I used a make-shift parachute for my egg drop. The parachute didn't deploy and as you guessed my egg didn't make it. So scott and I constructed this for our drop. We used a chinese food container suspended by rubberbands inside a this unusual ball that Scott had. Anyrate here is his project. He wanted to show you his "egg bomb" to everyone.

Valentines Day

The kids had their Valentines day parties today. As you all remember, as kids we all made shoe boxes that our classmates could deposit their valentines to us in. Scott decided that he did not want a "girly" valentines day box and that he wanted a shark. This is what we made together. Some of you wanted to see it. So here you go.

Fun in the sun

Video of the kids sledding

Its finally warm!

So this week we have experienced a little heat wave. Its been in the the high 30's - low 40's. So the kids and I threw on our snow gear and decided to head outside and play. Avery has been asking to make a snow man for months. But 15 below is just too cold for me to go outside and play. Anyrate I promised her we would make any snowman she liked. They kids chose a mickey mouse snowman. Well I did my best but to be honest it looks more like a bear. But they seemed pleased. Then we decided to go picasso style and color him up. The kids loved it. We followed up the snow man with a a little but sledding down the hill. Here are some picts.
